About Axia Tech Challenge
The Axia Tech Challenge (ATC) is Axia Technology & Innovation Hub's flagship annual inter-school innovation competition designed to inspire innovation, problem-solving, and digital literacy among secondary school students in Nigeria. Since its inception in 2022, ATC has become a platform that nurtures creativity, introduces young minds to emerging technologies, and positions them for global relevance in the tech ecosystem.
As Artificial Intelligence rapidly reshapes education, work, governance, and society, technical competence alone is no longer sufficient. ATC 4.0 marks a significant evolution of the initiative by introducing Responsible AI as the foundation for innovation — moving beyond asking "What can AI build?" to asking "What kind of future should AI build?"
Rather than producing students who simply know how to use AI tools, ATC 4.0 seeks to nurture ethical innovators who understand the social, legal, environmental, and human consequences of AI-powered technologies.
ATC exists to encourage innovation and digital creativity among young learners, contribute to Africa's technological future through early skill development, position the next generation for global tech relevance, and build a strong, collaborative tech community grounded in peer learning and mentorship.
This edition places Responsible AI at the centre of that mission — building a generation of responsible AI users, creators, innovators, and leaders who will shape Africa's technological future.

ATC 1.0
Where it began
The inaugural Axia Tech Challenge launched as the Hub's inter-school technology competition for secondary schools in Nigeria — sparking curiosity in coding, logic, and digital creativity among young learners.
ATC 2.0
Growing the community
Building on its debut, ATC 2.0 reached more schools and deepened its focus on problem-solving and teamwork — establishing a collaborative network of tech-driven schools and educators.
ATC 3.0
Global Standards for ICT Education
Held on 18 October 2025, ATC 3.0 brought together 20 secondary schools across Plateau State and 800+ attendees. Students competed in a Logic & Python Challenge and an AI Solution Pitch, while a dedicated teacher-empowerment day strengthened classroom capacity.
ATC 4.0
Responsible AI Beyond Innovation
The first edition centred entirely on Responsible AI. ATC 4.0 challenges students to build not just with AI, but for a future that is ethical, inclusive, and human-centred.

Minimizing risks associated with AI technologies, from misinformation to algorithmic bias and privacy violations.

Ensuring humans remain responsible for important decisions supported by AI, never ceding control to machines.
